When I was a little kid, I thought an album was released as soon as an artist wrote enough songs to fill one. Write, record, release, profit. I was a pretty naïve kid as it turns out.

While it’s easy to look at the final product and see it as the only version that has ever existed, successful writers know better. There’s a process to creation. Drafts, rewrites, rejections- it’s all a part of creating something you can be proud of. I can thank college professors who forced proof of drafts for showing me how my own writing could improve.
